Dystopian literature is a form of science fiction which focuses on futuristic human social structures characterised as societies impacted by one or more events, such as: (a) environmental decay; (b) technological control;
(c) anarchy; (d) oppression; (e)
social and economic class divides;
(f) mass poverty.
Generally, depicts a negative view of the world and our place in it.
Notable dystopian literature includes: (a) The Time Machine (1895), H. G. Wells; (b) Brave New World (1932), Aldous Huxley; (c) Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949), George Orwell; (d) Planet of the Apes (1963), Pierre Boulle
