Published for the 1923 this is an elegant French fashion illustration after a design by George Barbier, one of the leading figures of early twentieth-century fashion and decorative art.
The title translates as “Here Are My Wings!”, a playful reference to the extraordinary transparent sleeves worn by the standing figure. Raised high above her shoulders, the wide floral panels spread outward like butterfly wings, transforming the evening gown into a theatrical display of colour, movement and modern femininity.
The central woman wears a sleek black dress accented with deep red at the waist and skirt, while the sleeves are filled with stylised roses, leaves and blossoms in pink, blue, green and coral. At the lower right, a second woman in a pale gown watches from a seated position, her carefully arranged hair, jewellery and bracelets reinforcing the refined social atmosphere of the scene.
Beyond the terrace, small sailing boats move across a calm stretch of water. Classical columns and a chequered floor frame the figures, giving the composition the poised elegance of a stage set. The restrained architecture, elongated silhouettes and decorative floral patterning are characteristic of Barbier’s sophisticated Art Deco style.
The work is a fashion plate from a renowned French annual fashion and art publication circa 1923. It was produced after a drawing by George Barbier and published in Paris by Jules Meynial.
The original was created using lithography, pochoir stencil colouring and hand colouring and measures approximately 24.4 × 15.9 cm.
This restored reproduction has been carefully prepared to improve clarity, tonal balance and print presentation while preserving the pale paper tone, delicate pochoir colour and refined character of the original fashion plate. The product gallery includes both the restored artwork and a styled interior mock-up showing how the print may appear when framed and displayed.
Graceful, decorative and unmistakably Art Deco, Voici mes ailes! is especially well suited to a bedroom, dressing room, fashion studio, powder room or interior inspired by 1920s Parisian elegance.
