Created around 1890 by the French painter and poster artist Hugo F. d’Alési (1849–1906), this striking Swiss travel poster promotes tourism to Lake Thun (Lac de Thoune), Switzerland.

The composition combines several views of the Lake Thun region, including Alpine peaks, lakeside architecture, pastoral cattle and richly coloured mountain scenery. Its decorative lettering and layered scenic panels are characteristic of late-19th-century European tourism advertising, designed to present Switzerland as both picturesque and accessible to travellers.

The poster is particularly attractive for its balance of dramatic mountain scenery with the calm blue-green waters of the lake, creating an ideal example of early Swiss destination advertising.
