Created by Jules Chéret, this lively French theatre poster advertises a grand masked ball at the Théâtre de l’Opéra in Paris. With its animated figures, bright colour and elegant typography, the design captures the glamour and excitement of a Belle Époque evening at the opera.

At the centre, a masked woman in a vivid yellow costume reclines theatrically beside a formally dressed gentleman in a top hat. Behind them, revellers, dancers and costumed guests dissolve into energetic lines and soft washes of colour, suggesting a crowded celebration already in motion.

Chéret combines strong blue lettering with touches of yellow, red, black and grey against a pale paper ground. The loosely drawn background and sharply defined central figures create a sense of spontaneity, while the large announcement—“Grande Fête à l’Opéra, 1er Bal Masqué”—gives the poster the immediacy of an invitation to a fashionable Parisian event.

The original work is a lithograph by Jules Chéret, measuring approximately 28.7 × 39.8 cm.  This restored reproduction has been carefully prepared to improve clarity, tonal balance and print presentation while preserving the softly aged paper tone and expressive character of the historic design. The product gallery includes both the restored artwork and a styled interior mock-up showing how the print may appear when framed and displayed.

Festive, theatrical and distinctly Parisian, Théâtre de l’Opéra — 1er Bal Masqué is especially well suited to a music room, dressing room, home bar, dining room or interior inspired by opera, theatre and Belle Époque nightlife.
