Created by Alphonse Mucha in 1902, Grand Vin de Champagne is an elegant Art Nouveau advertisement for Henri Roederer Champagne. Its unusually tall, narrow format gives the composition a graceful vertical rhythm, perfectly suited to Mucha’s flowing linework and decorative approach.
At the centre, a serene young woman sits with a shallow champagne coupe held delicately in one hand. Her pale gown and soft pink drapery fall in long, sweeping folds, while her golden hair curls across a circular backdrop filled with grapevines, autumn leaves and clusters of fruit. The pose is relaxed and dreamlike, suggesting refinement, pleasure and quiet indulgence rather than overt commercial display.
Mucha integrates the lettering into the architecture of the poster, with “Grand Vin de Champagne” arcing above the figure and “Henri Roederer” forming a strong base below. The words “Sec,” “Demi-Sec” and “Doux” appear along the side, referring to different levels of sweetness. Soft greens, peach, cream and muted gold give the design a delicate, luminous quality.
The original work is recorded as a colour lithograph from 1902, measuring approximately 60.5 × 22 cm. This restored reproduction has been carefully prepared to improve clarity, tonal balance and print presentation while preserving the softly aged character of the historic artwork.
With its slender format and refined palette, Grand Vin de Champagne is particularly well suited to narrow walls, dining rooms, wine rooms, home bars, kitchens and elegant Art Nouveau interiors. The product gallery includes both the restored artwork and a styled mock-up showing how the print may appear when framed and displayed.
