Created by Leonetto Cappiello in 1922, Contratto is a dramatic example of Italian beverage advertising from the early Art Deco period. Against a deep black background, a jubilant woman appears to dance while balancing an enormous coupe glass filled with a golden sparkling drink.

Her red wrap, dark floral skirt and sweeping white plume create a vivid sense of movement. Cappiello exaggerates the scale of the glass and isolates the figure against the dark ground, making the product instantly memorable. This bold use of colour, theatrical gesture and visual simplicity became a defining feature of his commercial poster work.

The oversized glass dominates the composition, its golden stem and pale froth forming a luminous contrast with the surrounding black. Beneath the figure, the single word “CONTRATTO” appears in large, restrained lettering, allowing the image itself to carry most of the advertisement’s impact.

The original poster is identified as a 1922 advertisement by Leonetto Cappiello for Contratto. This restored reproduction has been carefully prepared to improve clarity, colour balance and print presentation while preserving the expressive brushwork and period character of the historic design.

Energetic, glamorous and visually striking, Contratto is especially well suited to a home bar, cocktail room, dining room, restaurant or Art Deco-inspired interior. The product gallery includes both the restored artwork and a styled interior mock-up showing how the print may appear when framed and displayed.
