David John Moore Cornwell, aka John Le Carré, (19 October 1931 – 12 December 2020) was a British author.

He is best known for his spy and espionage novels, a number of which were successfully adapted for film or television.

During the 1950s and 1960s, he worked for both the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), bringing that experience to bear in his novel writing.

Many consider Le Carre to be one of the greatest novelists of the post WWII era.

Le Carre was a multi-award winner, including a finalist of the Man Booker Prize in 2011.
