John Le Carre (19 October 1931 – 12 December 2020), is legal name:David John Moore Cornwell - was a British author.

He is best known for his spy and espionage novels, many of which were successfully adapted for film or television.

During the 1950s and 1960s, he worked for both the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), bringing that experience to bear in his novel writing.

His book, “The Spy Who Came in from the Cold”, published in 1963 was a bestseller.

Finalist of the Man Booker Prize in 2011.
