Test Match Special 3 is the third volume in the celebrated series drawn from the BBC’s iconic cricket radio programme Test Match Special, edited by Peter Baxter. Published in 1985, the book captures the wit, insight, and atmosphere that made the broadcast a cornerstone of cricket culture in Britain and throughout the Commonwealth.

The volume brings together essays, reflections, anecdotes, and cricket writing inspired by the voices synonymous with TMS — blending match reportage with humour, literary observation, and behind-the-scenes stories from the commentary box. It reflects the golden era of cricket broadcasting, when radio commentary was as much a companion to the game as the play itself.

Illustrated by Paul Russell and featuring score material compiled by Bill Frindall, the book serves as both a nostalgic record of cricket on the airwaves and a snapshot of how the game was experienced by listeners during the 1970s–1980s period.
