Arthur Asher Miller (7 October 1915 – 10 February 2005) was an American playwright, essayist and screenwriter.

 

He received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1949 for his play, titled: “Death of a Salesman” (published, 1 January 1949). The play was a story detailing the tragedy of a man who gave his life pursuing the elusive American Dream.

 

Arthur Miller's other notable books include:-

• “The Crucible” (published , 1 May 1946); and
• “A View from the Bridge” (published, 1 January 1955).

He is also famously known as having married the American actress, Marilyn Monroe.
