The Gatenby Saga is the story of Andrew Gatenby who emigrated from Wales in the 1820s and settled in Tasmania's Midlands district, establishing the successful farm Barton, and building the Pennyroyal Mill.  

An excellent book on the history of Tasmanian, specifically the midlands area. Illustrated with letters, maps and photographs. Telling of seven generations of the Gatenby extended family; their ups and downs; agricultural and farming ebdeavours; land disputes; encounters with bushrangers, local aborigines, convicts, tasmanian tigers; and others.

 

The book won the Lilian Watson Family History Award in 2021.
