Ian Lancaster Fleming (28 May 1908 – 12 August 1964) was an English writer, best known for his spy novels featuring the central character, “James Bond”.
He was a member of Britain's Naval Intelligence Division during WWII, no doubt drawing on this experience in writing his spy novels.
During his lifetime Fleming wrote twelve novels and two short-stories which featured the James Bond character, including:

Raymond Benson (1955 - ) is an American writer of spy and thriller novels.
After the death of Ian Fleming (creator of the “James Bond” spy novels) in 1964, and in association with Ian Fleming's former production company, “Glidrose Publications”, during the period between 1981 and 1996, Gardner was the key writer of authorised spy novels based on the James Bond character.
In 1996, John Gardner resigned from writing Bond books. Glidrose Publications then agreed that Benson take on the role previously held by John Gardner to continue writing James Bond books.
Benson wrote six James Bond novels, three novelizations, and three short stories.
