  • Charles Raymond Blackman OBE (12 August 1928 – 20 August 2018) is one of Australias greatest figurative artists.

    Blackman studied art at the East Sydney Technical School during 1943-1946.

    Blackman received various scholarships which allowed him to travel and paint, including:

    • the Helena Rubenstein Travelling Scholarship (1960);
    • the Cité des Artes scholarship (1970).

    Blackman's artworks are held by a number of public galleries and in private collections.

    In 1966, the artist Jon Molvig won the Archibald Prize for his painting of Charles Blackman.
